Five Brown Kids

Two sport athlete, trying to keep up with it all.  Fun and games with swim friends. Dinner out after practice.  Trevor Noah at DPAC with friends.  He's my favorite. So smart.  Blythe and I spent the day at the NC State College of  Veterinary Science open house.  She had a stuffed animal repaired by students practicing stiches.  Saw all the operating rooms.  Looked at lots of animal skeletons. Checked out some horses. And petted all the puppies at adoption booths.  Milked a cow.  Blythe desperately wants a pet and I can't do that.  So I try to make up for it with lots of animal activities. She would definitely like to be a vet someday.  Tyrone and Jaxon went to a Hornets game for a spring break activity. 

I lift up a rug to clean under it and Blythe says, "It’s magic dust!” Jaxon said at the dinner table, “I don’t want a girl riding my butt”. It was spring of 2020 and he wasn't interested in a girlfriend right then but not long after he starts hanging out with Makenzie and discovered that with the right girl having a girlfriend was wonderful! At the Summer 2021 beach trip I dive through some waves and let my wet hair out of a bun at the beach and Blythe says, “Wow, this is wild and crazy mom!" Describing his dressing style Scotia says, "Taye is a white boy with an aggressive tan."   Driving and eating in the car Scotia told Blythe, "I've been eating goldfish longer than you've been alive." Scotia came into my room early on a Saturday morning needing a ride to school for a track meet.  Scotia, "It's time for you to wake up." Blythe has been playing with friends on the other side of the ravine.  Girls! Third grade book report presentations.  Taye is a Certified Nurse Assistant and has worked at a hospice center one shift a week for the past 14 months.  We get to hear lots of stories. It takes an incredible person to care for people who are dying and the families who are grieving.  And Taye is so good at it.  This semester he has a laptop/zoom meetings/spreadsheet internship and I've heard him say that he would rather work the hardest day at hospice than sit on a laptop all day.  Super proud of him.  Scotia has challenging school classes, track and field, swim and time for parties with her friends.  Getting better all the time.  Jaxon went with some friends to Atlanta for spring break. We took an airboat swamp tour that was amazing.  It was sunny and warm and the breeze was just right.  Lots of alligators out sunning.  My hair... Shrimp Po'boys for lunch at Mohoney's on Magazine Street.  A ride on the New Orleans Street Car.  Ended up on Frenchman Street for all the jazz you could possibly want.  Really, really fabulous.  Brunch at the Bywater Country Club .  Interior design was absolute perfection! I would go back just to spend a day here.  We did an impromptu photo shoot in the bathroom.  And I loved all the little shotgun houses. Super narrow and long with no interior hallway. One room leads to the next.  Wonderful trip, with wonderful friends.     I am so lucky - a million times over. 

Oh my goodness.  My friend Sara just completed her final breast cancer treatment!  We planned a celebration trip to leave just hours after she was finished. The trip was awesome, obviously.  We stayed in a cute little shotgun house in the Bywater area. 

Taye went to a friends lake house to hang out for a few days.

If Blythe has to come with when I drive Scotia to swim then we go to Pullen Park and hang out.
