End of summer

I dropped Derick (and a piece of my heart) off at Job Corp. He is getting settled in his dorm room and learning his way around campus. I’m so happy for this chance he has to go to trade school.

Thank you coach

We hosted a little dinner/thank you party for Jaxon’s AAU coach.  For the last three years he has hauled this group of boys all over the southeast - setting up practice times and places, scheduling tournaments, making travel plans, reserving hotels, washing uniforms, figuring out food.  So grateful for his support of Jaxon - and all the fun adventures and experiences they had.

Summer Camp

I’d hoped to send Scotia to a cake decorating camp and photography camp at the local community college this summer but they we still covid closed.  Instead she stayed at the Cleverly’s house for an extra week after Blythe and I left. Then she and Isabelle flew to the Rick’s house for the Fourth of July and then stayed there for an extra week and then the two of them flew to Raleigh and hung out here for two weeks before the beach.   Courtney dropped them off at Newark airport to fly to Raleigh. They got through security, mixed up tickets, delayed flights and then when they landed in Raleigh just called me and I picked them up curbside.  They are so brave together.   The next generation of traveling friends has begun.

Beach Party

The Cleverly’s and Rick’s met us for a week at the beach. We had such a wonderful time.  Courtney found a house with a one minute walk to the beach and also a dock to the sound in the back. The best of both worlds... We enjoyed playing at the beach but also shrimp fishing and crabbing and kayaking in the sound.   I got to go paddling every day.  I think kayaking in the sound is my favorite.  Blowing grasses, white herons, jumping fish.  It just feels so cozy and peaceful. I paddled with Courtney, Emily, Tyrone, Makenzie and Isabelle.
