Spring

Just to make all the Ripples jealous

Another Saturday

It was a swim meet/basketball tournament kind of day where the hours spent at home were few and far between. I did get a real five mile run in- my best since the whole back episode. And Blythe got a nap in her bed. So not bad.  We ended the day all together at Bad Daddy's Burger Bar where Taye demolished the Bad A$$ Burger. (Swimming does that to a growing boy)  They did play three games but lunch and play at the American Tobacco Historic District had the best picture. He ate every bite.

Falls Lake wander

Tyrone was off on Monday so we grabbed lunch to go at Chipotle and wandered down to Falls Lake dam. It was warm and sunny and very relaxing...

Spring break cabin

Taye of course!

Kid stuff

It's spring and our schedule moves into hyperdrive from now til school is out. Taye had state age group champs last weekend. He swam the 50 free and 200 fly. He dropped time in both and looked handsome doing it. Next year he'll be on the upper end of this 13/14 age group and a real contender. Jaxon had regionals for Odyssey of the Mind and his team rocked. Their "losing your marbles" skit and balsa wood structure were the very best and they are headed off to state in a few weeks.  Then this week Jaxon and Scotia participated in First in Fitness.  Scotia ran the 100 yard dash with 14 other fastest 2nd grade girls in their schools and placed 3rd!!! So exciting. Jaxon did the 'triathlon' and finished a 1 mile run in 6 mins 36 seconds, 7 pulls ups and a 9.5 second shuttle run. Awesome all the way around!

14 Months

What you see is what you get.  Chunky and confident.  Climbing up everything.  Walking the whole way up to the park.  Practically running on the greenway.  (See the scab on chin, bruise on cheek and scar on forehead).  Obsessed with dogs and cats - and no fear that I can see.  She's way more a mix of Jax and Taye in looks and attitude.

Snowy Winter

The weekend before my mom arrived was 60 degrees.  And then she showed up and it was colder and snowier than it's been in years. My kids have only been to school one day in the past two weeks.  My mom totally made it tolerable though.  She helped get kids to activities that were not canceled (mostly swim), did all the laundry and helped me with some deep cleaning, engaged us in lots of lovely adult conversation, ooohed and awwwwed over my kids and generally made life really pleasant for two weeks while Tyrone got back on his feet (literally).  A million thank you's Mom! In Nova Scotia, while Mom was gone Dad shoveled a path from the front door to the end of the driveway Then he shoveled three feet of snow off the roof Here in NC, Taye kept watch on the neighborhood
