Annual Father's Day Bake Off

The kids went to the grandparents house for Father's Day for the annual bake off.  Blythe and Jaxon tied for first and share the new trophy!

Happy Birthday Blythe and Jaxon!

Blythe turned 12 and Jaxon turned 22.  They are so cute!  Breakfast for Blythe before school.   Coffee shop for the best breakfast biscuits for Jaxon. Family came over for a birthday dinner. Blythe got a speed bag kit.  Jaxon got golf clubs! Fun evening all together.

Annual Father's Day Cook Off

The kids did their annual Father's Day Cook Off. Jaxon won this year and he will be teasing Scotia about it until the next one.  She is not happy. ( 2024 , 2023 ) Jaxon made Blueberry Wonderland - a fancy take on Bo'Berry Biscuits. In the video he is telling Dad that he worked on the recipe for months perfecting it.  Actually just found it on TikTok the morning of. Blythe made a Zesty Lemon Cake. I helped her find a vanilla cake recipe (and then left) and she did everything else - including modifying it to make it lemon flavored, setting up her own pans, and taking it out when it was done, making icing, adding lemon zest (I recommended the mint).  Blythe has entered the grown-up world of cooking! Scotia made her own version of Whole Foods Brown Butter Cookie Caramel Crunch Cake .  She still can't believe she didn't win.  I helped Blythe get started on her cake and then ducked out to hang with Mark while the kids spent time with grandparents and dad. ...

Learning to fish

Tyrone took Jaxon on an afternoon fishing adventure... Jax heads back to Junior year of college this week.

Paddling

Jaxon and I went for an evening paddle.  Saw four herons and a beaver that was slapping his tail on the water.  First time for that!

Florida Spring Break

Jaxon went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for spring break with his roommates.   He had a great time and I'm so glad he made it back safe.

Fall Break Day 4

On our last day we headed back into Escalante, on a dirt road off the main dirt road that ended up just driving over rock.  First rappel was 300 feet.  This was Jaxon's first time and I asked if he thought he was going to do.  Yes! He was crazy nervous but made it happen. And me too. Then squeezed and crawled and climbed through the slot canyon. The weenies forever! Whew, we did it! I loved getting to spend so much time with Jaxon.  He's such a cool kid. Another great adventure.

Fall Break Day 3

On day 3 we headed into Peekaboo and Spooky slot canyons.  Drive an hour down a dirt road, turn left and drive further down another dirt road, park and then hike in a for an hour.  Totally worth it!  Jaxon was happy.  It was a wild adventure and he was totally into it. Spooky is still too snug to be comfortable but I know I can get through and I enjoyed it a lot more this time.  Ended with a quick cold dip in Zebra Slot Canyon.
