Cozy basement

We bought a big new couch for the basement.  Room for everyone now.

Last Sunday

This happened last Sunday.  I got a text from Tyrone at 11:30 Sunday morning. Bednars are here in town and coming over for lunch after church.  I finished tidying up and got out some lunch stuff and then they all came over. So fun to catch up with our old friends. They were excited to hear about Taye's swimming. We ate sandwiches and made homemade pizza and jumped rope and listened to piano players and played in the playroom.

Falls Lake Hike

My first after surgery. So nice to be moving again.

Friday Night Lights

Got to go to a high school game to support Big D. Blythe danced to all the songs and we lost again...

Outer Banks

Our next door neighbors (the coolest newly retired couple - who raised four kids,  had two super successful careers and still have energy to bike and hike everyday) invited us to hang out at their beach house for the long weekend. We had such a relaxing and fun time. Tyrone made breakfasts, they cooked suppers and I had to do nothing! Sunday I went for a walk - watched kids play at the beach in the morning, read my book on the beach all afternoon while the rest of the Browns took a rest and then enjoyed watching everyone play when they all came back to the beach later in the afternoon. The kids jumped waves, surfed, played football, buried Derick, dug big holes and were generally super happy and engaged the entire weekend. And I think our neighbors still like us.  I was a little concerned that hosting all seven of us for the weekend might strain the relationship.  But I think it worked out okay.

My mom

I called my mom from the hospital and told her I was heading into surgery and was instructed not to drive, lift, bend etc for an entire week post surgery.  She bought a ticket that evening and showed up Saturday morning to help out.  For two whole weeks she came and ran the show.  Getting kids to all their activities, cleaning and dealing with grumpy end of summer bored teenage boys while I recovered.  By the time she left I was feeling so much better - and that was only because I actually got to rest and heal. I'm in my forties and my mom is still taking care of me.  Thanks Mom!
