Four little brown kids: It's a ....

Yes, it's true. No, it wasn't a mistake or a surprise. We planned it - although in our plan it took a little longer than a week to get pregnant. No, I haven't had any miscarriages between the last baby 6 years ago and this one. Yes, we think there should be another Brown kid. Don't you? Because we have real health insurance that covers maternity. Because Tyrone has an excellent job that pays well. And no more school! Yes, I'm fat.  Happens every time.  I'll take care of it after... Yes, I've been sick and miserable.  I'm 18 weeks and just barely starting to feel human again. We are all super excited for the best Christmas present ever!  Anything else?

Nova Scotia: Grandpa Skills

Taye has recent memories of Nova Scotia from his Grandpa Camp Trip two years ago.  He couldn't wait for shooting and woodshop again. Grandpa helped all the kids and Tyrone make something in his shop.  Taye made a wooden gun.  Jaxon and Tyrone wooden bowls and Scotia made a barbie table and car.   They also took some guns up to the gravel pit and had a lovely time shooting.  I don't get that.

Nova Scotia: Gramp's Camp

My dad built a little bunk house in the backyard for grandkids.  The details were amazing.  The tin can reading lights, the tree branch hooks, books and toys, chess table and a cooler full of treats.  The kids loved it.  Tyrone and I spent a night or two out there too.  Jaxon had a scare one night when a raccoon was snooping around.

Nova Scotia: Detour

Our flight out of Raleigh was delayed and then we missed our connecting flight in Detroit by minutes.  So disappointing.  But we rented a car, drove down to John and Carrie's for the night, admired their beautiful house, ate a yummy breakfast, played with the cousins and then hopped on the plane the next night straight to NS.  It worked out okay....

Home again, home again, jiggety-jog

We are home from a wonderful trip to Nova Scotia! More posts to come.

Quick visit

Courtney and her kids ventured down for a quick weekend visit and a trip to the beach for her nephew who had never been.  Saturday we played at home and the pool plus a quick visit to the farmers market for the best peaches on the planet.  Sunday we played at Carolina beach and jumped and surfed in the waves. We stayed overnight at our favorite campsite.  Monday morning the boys walked down to the marina at 7 am for fishing bait and never left. They were all busy fishing, shrimping and kayaking all morning.  One of these days I'll have beautiful pictures from Courtney's camera to post. Until then...

Mud zombie

On the Fourth of July Tyrone worked so after a run/walk and an afternoon swim Jaxon, Scotia and I headed off to visit Taye at scout camp. His leader requested a dozen pair of dry youth socks and 4 pair of dry leader socks. It was a very wet week at camp.  Taye looked like a mud zombie. Dirty and tired but having a great time with all his friends.  He slept in a hammock under a wood shelter all week - better than a damp canvas tent.  I brought home a bag of dirty clothes I couldn't touch. Just handed them off to Tyrone- good luck!

Lost Dog

We had an adventure Saturday night when a big black, friendly dog came up to our doorstep and wouldn't leave.  Taye gave him some water and some friendly pats and then some food when it appeared he was hungry. Then he sat out with him for several hours waiting for Animal Services to come pick him up. It all made me kind of sad that I can't get a dog for Taye.  He clearly would do an excellent job.  But I don't do pets!!!
