Off to University

After preparing and planning all summer we finally packed up two cars and dropped Scotia off at her new life. Tyrone worked on move in day, but came by the night before to say goodbye and check out her shower kit.  Move in was pretty easy.  While Mark and Scotia parked the cars, Blythe and I started loading up the bin.  We moved everything in with two loads and then spent an hour or two unpacking and putting everything away.  Super cute little room but packed for sure.  We did a quick Target run and then hugged Scotia goodbye and wished her well.  She is on her way.

Scotia Silliness

Scotia had the most fun summer running around with all her swim friends. They fished and camped and did sleepovers, dinners and late night snacks and made silly TikToks with Scotia in a squirrel mask.  All the final fun things! Between that and working 35 hours a week she was busy! One of her girlfriends heard that a few senior swim boys were going camping and the girls decided to prank them.  They booked a campsite in the same campground and Scotia drove my car so her car wouldn't be a give away.  They set up their campsite, ate supper and once it got dark sneaked over to the boys site and laying low in the woods whistled randomly for a bit until it was clear the boys were bothered and then they snuck back to their site. They crawled back later with more whistling and tossed a doll  (missing an arm and an eye?) over the boys tent and into their campsite.  The boys were pretty freaked out.  One hopped in his car and starting shining his lights all over. Home to the Motherland - Part 3

Saturday after we dropped Jaxon and Scotia off at the airport to fly home Mark and I drove to Cape Breton for a little exploring. We rented e-bikes and biked along the coastal trail, stopping at the Red Shoe Pub for lunch before biking back.  Mark rented the most fabulous little lake front cottage with ocean views.  It was dreamy.  Slept up in the loft with stunning wake up views.  Snacks on the deck and then a refreshing swim in the lake.  Unreal sunsets.  Sunday we hiked into  Fishing Cove.   One of Mark's top five hikes ever.   Hard work, stunning views at the end.  Dinner at L'Abri Next day we walked the Skyline Trail .  The views! The wind! Then we hiked to the Salmon Pools.   I took a swim in the river.  So refreshing! Cutest little hide away.  Back in Halifax we toured the citadel, wandered through the public gardens , ate at the  Barrington Steakhouse  and stayed the night in  the Muir ....

Home to the Motherland - Part 2

Spin for the kids in Grandpa's truck.  Biked around Western Head with Matt and Courtney.  Hiked out to the Kedji Adjunct with Matt and Courtney and Zoe and her boys.  Nana's yummy fish chowder for supper and Nathan dropped by to say hello.  On Wednesday we drove up to Shubenacadie to raft the tidal bore.  Zoe and I happily sat it out.  Once was enough.   Everyone else had a fab time.  Especially sliding in the mud.   Before After the rafting and showers we drove to Peggy's Cove to meet Mom and Dad and Hannah (who they had just picked up from the airport) The rocks were outrageous and the sunset fabulous.  Thursday afternoon we went to Ponhook lake.  Grandpa always puts a card on file at the snack shack and you can go get a free ice cream cone by giving them the passcode "GP" Then we went candle pin bowling downtown and everyone thought the tiny bowling balls were a hoot.  Hell Bay brewing after for a drink while the kids p...
