Heart Walk

Blythe went with the school Beta Club to the American Heart Associate Heart Walk. They had a great morning.  Mark and I tried to go to the Wide Open Music Festival downtown but it was pouring by the time the Saturday afternoon session started and his favorite band had cancelled.  We watched a few songs, ate at an outside covered patio and then came home to watch football!

Books and Horses

Blythe volunteered for the morning at the barn helping the vet do check ups.  She brought horses in from the field. Held them for teeth brushing and inspections.  Chatted with the vet.  Taking care of horses is hard work.  Photos from lessons.  Tyrone gave Blythe this perfect book shelf for all her favorite series.

Go wolfpack!

Blythe went to a football game with her bestie's family.  There was a storm delay half way through and after they ended up right down next to the field. Fun night!

Back to school

Blythe is back at it. But first a fun outing with friends.

21st Summer Swim Season

This was the twenty-first season of Brown kids doing summer swim.  I still love it for all the same reasons. Tradition, community and fun! Blythe was MVP for 11/12 girls and was also high scorer for the whole team!  Go Blythe!  She swims like a Brown.

Overnight Camp

Last year Blythe declared this camp "the funnest week of her life!" and she said this year was even better.  She and her bestie opted for the overnight option and that meant more time and silliness with cabin mates.    I found this little blue ribbon campfire award in her dirty clothes bag.   Blythe is the best!

Annual Father's Day Bake Off

The kids went to the grandparents house for Father's Day for the annual bake off.  Blythe and Jaxon tied for first and share the new trophy!

Matilda Drama Camp

Blythe was so lucky to participate in a two week drama intensive at the high school connected to her middle school. She thought it started out a bit slow but following the last show the cast was crying and hugging saying goodbye -  they were all best friends.  One of Blythe's favorites parts was being at school in the summer when they could run all over, play hide and seek and be silly and super fun.  Dad and the grandparents went to the first show.  Taye and Jaxon to the second show and me and Scotia to the final show.  Full coverage attendance! Watch the show here

Finally Farm Horse Show

Blythe competed in her second horse show. ( First Horse Show ) The evening before she was at the barn preparing her horse and putting equipment in the trailer. Then back at the barn at 4:30 am to feed the horses and help get them into the trailer.  Then we all drove to the show and unpacked the trailer there, more horse cleaning and feeding.  Then a quick warm up in the ring. She competed in five events: Walk/Trot Equitation, Walk/Trot Pleasure, Walk/Trot Hunter Under Saddle, Canter Equitation and Equitation Over Poles. The intricacies of these skills is hard to imagine unless you've listened to the coaching week after week.  Way to go Blythe! It ended up being a 14 hour day for Blythe.  Packing and hauling and cleaning and riding the whole day. Horse girls aren't afraid of hard work.
