Utah Adventure - Part 5

The last morning we walked around Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon outside Salt Lake. There was still snow and ice in the lake. In four days we saw the full range from flowering cactus to a frozen lake.

Utah Adventure - Part 4

Sunrise. Then we headed for Bryce Canyon. It’s a big National park. Wide paths, safety rails, gift shops. And so beautiful! A little anti-climatic after all the other adventures... and so many people.  I prefer the remote adventures where bumping into someone feels like maybe you won't perish alone in the desert.

Utah Adventure - Part 3

The third day we headed back to Peekaboo and Spooky Gulch. Someone took my trail review to heart and made this helpful warning and measurement post. I barely fit, obviously. Peekaboo is so beautiful- a little challenging but plenty of room. I vowed to never wiggle through Spooky again but somehow got talked into it. I knew I could get through though so I just plowed through as fast as I could - and when it was too skinny I remembered to get down and crawl.

Utah Adventure - Part 2

The second day we hiked into Cosmic Ashtray - this crazy rock formation filled with sand. Courtney rocked the four wheel driving it took to get us close before we had to hike the rest of the way. This is a very remote hike… follow the dirt/sand road,  park before you get stuck and then head in the general direction.   We found it!

Utah Adventure - Part 1

Courtney and I (and Courtney’s friend Christine) met up with Cheryl in Utah for a couple days of adventure. I’m going to break the photos into a couple different blog posts- I have too many pictures!

Mother’s Day

We had our annual Mother’s Day pizza at the pool a week late because the actual day was freezing. I love seeing all my kids playing together - so fun to hang out. All that work was totally worth it!  (On the actual day Scotia and Blythe made me breakfast, Jaxon and Makenzie brought me a bag of goodies, Derick called me, Taye called me and Anna texted me. What a crowd!)

Brown Family Video 2021

Just a few weeks before school gets out and I'm done with another annual family video.  We worked our way through Covid and suffered greatly from the loss of two best friends.  Still, another year to be proud of.  Work hard, play hard. (The Apple licensing agreement means I can't use any of the songs I really loved this year... so I picked favorite songs from the past that are useable.) Every Brown Family video since 2001 right here .

Jaxon’s senior prom

Because of Covid this is the only formal dance Jaxon and Makenzie have been to. They did pictures before, then dinner and dance, then a friends house after.  Fun night.  Up next graduation and college…

Spring sports

Blythe finished up soccer and is looking forward to another season in the fall. Next up dance recital and then summer swim!
