Free Range Kids

Scotia and Blythe are so lucky to have a group of friends who move from house to house and yard to yard playing all day

Retire to Liverpool

My dad started this new Retire To Liverpool web site to entice people to come live in my tiny little hometown. He's gotten some local and regional press.  It's worth checking out the Gallery .  I grew up in a beautiful little corner of the world. Fort Point Lighthouse - the Mersey River on the right empties into the Atlantic Ocean on the left Village of Milton along the Mersey River Boating for work, boating for pleasure

House Hunters 3: North Hills Flipped Bungalow

1960's bungalow in the hottest neighborhood in Raleigh, walking distance to elementary school and Target New kitchen, small but cute Two tiny master closets Double Sinks! Low ceilings

Packing up

Boxes, blankets, tired eyes and a bike (of course!) for Taye's triathlon on Saturday. I can do this.

House Hunters 2: Bedford With Room to Spare

There were so many rooms with so much space, almost overkill Don't love the hard ward floor, tile and carpet or that big dividing wall.  Ugh! Neighbors in the back yard Big Bonus Room Note: Bedford has beautiful homes but our price range puts us at the lower end of this neighborhood

Weekend craziness

Despite the fact that we are busy packing up the last 12 years of life the weekends continue to be as crazy as ever.  Taye attended the NC swim select camp for the top swimmers in the state. They had two former Olympians as coaches and Taye has signed hats and swim caps as proof.  We have friends in Greensboro so I was able to drop him off Friday night and they delivered him to the pool Saturday morning.  Because... Saturday morning Tyrone had two cases at a medical office he moonlights for and Jaxon had a basketball tournament.  The girls stayed home with our favorite baby sitter which makes them very happy.  Jaxon's team won the tournament. And his knees seem to be feeling a little better. Yay!

House Hunters 1: Falls River Killer Backyard

While Tyrone was in the Dominican Republic I saw a house online in the neighborhood we wanted.  The minute he got home we went to look at it  - and a few others too just to make sure we really wanted it.   Here's house one of four houses we looked at.  I will post them over the coming week. Which one did we pick?   (Note: Closing day on our old house and new house is still to come, nothing is set in stone until I have keys in my hand)  Love the curb appeal Interior was a little outdated, def some things we would need to update Basement bonus room with bookshelves Beautiful backyard with nothing but woods

Saying goodbye

I am painfully aware that real estate transactions often fall through and I won't feel safe until it's a done deal.  Our new house is so beautiful and spacious. It is a definite upgrade. There are separate spaces for all the warring factions and yet... I feel so sad to leave my little house. We have the best backyard in Raleigh. I'm missing it already.

Nana

Mom came for a spring visit. She watched Taye swim and Jaxon play basketball. She went to Scotia's field day and Blythe's gymnastics class.  She toured the new house with me and oohed and awwed. She followed Blythe and me to the Y for workouts and Pullen Park for fun and sun.  She soaked up some much needed vitamin D and did a lot of laundry. It was wonderful to have some help...

Farm days

My mom is here. We are checking out the new house and following kids around. NC State Farm days was awesome as usual .

Dominican Republic Mission Trip

Since Tyrone has been home from his mission trip to the Dominican Republic he worked his last day at a big city hospital he has been at since 2004 (RN, SRNA, CRNA). Started a new job at a small country hospital. Made an offer on a house and signed all the contract paperwork.  Worked like madmen to get our house market ready in four days and then sold our house and signed some more papers.  But that is all a story for another day.  Here - Tyrone's amazing mission trip to the DR.  It was organized by a local church and Tyrone was invited by a former co-worker. A street in Santo Domingo, although not quite depicted in this picture, the primary mode of transportation are mopeds This was the amazing view of the Caribbean Sea  I witnessed  each morning I  awoke and went outside my hotel room  View of the Caribbean Sea at the Hotel Playa Azul Despite the beauty of beach in the previous picture you couldn't walk or play on it due to ...
