Age Group Champs

Taye qualified for two races at the North Carolina Swim Age Group Champs this year.  The 50 Free and the 50 Fly.  He also swam four relays - great fun! Taye is a content swimmer.  He enjoys the competition, doesn't seem to care at all for the ribbons, and is usually focusing on his next big time.  But mostly he finds it exhausting.  He swims more miles in a week than most of you run or walk.  By the time practice is over there is a short 20 minute window to get him home and fed before the tears start.  Then homework and bed as fast as he can get there. I'm impressed that he can give it everything he's got every day at the pool. We purchased Taye a team track suit with his name just in time for the big meet.  He wore the jacket to church the next day over his shirt and tie so I know he loves it. Last year.

That's not my talent!

In the fall Scotia let us know that she was done with dance. I've offered piano lessons and soccer team and a hip hop dance class and she's not interested. "That's not my talent!" Apparently her talent is art - so we are trying an art class one day a week but I think the consensus is she'd just rather come home and play with friends everyday. Summer is coming and even if swim isn't her "talent" she's going to do it anyway. Tough love!

Jaxon loves...

I hung this up on the gym wall with a ton of other primary children's hearts to decorate for the ward valentine's dance - on a day when I put 115 miles on my van and was not ever farther than 15 miles from my house.  Carpool, supply pick up, exercise, OM practice, dance decorating, Taye's state swim champs and the dance of course.  Whew!

Fresh Friday: Setting the table

This little paper hangs on the side of the fridge. A handy reminder for setting the table properly.

Happy valentines day!

Taye's music class

Taye's assessment of middle school is, "boring, boring and boring!". But one day when I picked him up he popped a cd in and began smiling like crazy. In music class they made beats and Taye is in love. The cd now hangs in Tyrone's car because he loves it too. Listen... (note bad boy taye in his turtle hospital shirt :-)

The very hungry kindergartner

I love kindergarten writing. So cute! She did plan for fruit on the last few days of the week...  Donuts Pizza Heart Cookies Bagels Cakes

Just a peak inside

One evening after I finished putting Scotia to bed I came out to find Jax and Tyrone on the bed with the  laptop trying to watch an important football game.  Taye was downstairs watching Antiques Roadshow on PBS.  I cuddled up with Taye of course - he is a kid after my own heart!

Second place

Tyrone is getting good at this :-)
