Weekend Escape

My friend Carleen has had a long year. It’s been a tough year for everyone but in the middle of it all she’s cared for her sister and her two nieces while her sister recovered from breast cancer. Then she cared for her mother in law for months as she slowly died from cancer. In the middle of that her father died and she spent a few weeks with him saying goodbye and burying him.

Making the most of Labor Day

Long before the pandemic we planned an end of summer beach trip with the Fosters. Sally died the week before and the Fosters had to stay home to attend to all the funeral activities and family.  We missed them- it would have been fun to have friends all weekend.  Jaxon was off to a tournament in South Carolina but the rest of us had a great time. Taye and Anna drove over from college. Always fun to hang out with them. The highlight was renting jet skis for an hour. Derick and Taye took Scotia and Blythe out for half the time and then dropped them off and went on an adventure. Super fun!!  Blythe was very intent on flying a kite and was able to get it up super high one day.  I loved jumping waves, reading a book under the shade tent and just generally chilling. I’m so lucky to have wonderful kids!

“Off the charts”

Jaxon is getting good press at each tournament this summer.

Back to school

We are just a few weeks in to work at home/school from home terror.  No one is happy about this.  All the boring/hard parts of school and none of the fun...

Beach fun

Jaxon went to the beach for the week with Carson’s family. Great time!

Basketball highlight

Jaxon has gone to a few tournaments this summer with his AAU team.  They missed months of practice and tournaments are slim but he’s happy to be out there.  Last week a tournament posted a high light video of Jaxon...  There are lots of tournaments and leagues out there and no one is knocking down our door yet. But this isn’t a bad thing....

Same old, same old

It’s been six months since we started the pandemic home all the time lifestyle.  The first three months were very much at home. The last three months have been a little busier but not anywhere near our regular routine. Taye has gone back to college. The three younger kids will have all online school for the foreseeable future....  This family is always around the neighborhood.
