We are home from a wonderful trip to my parent's house in Nova Scotia. We drove to Portland, Maine and took the ferry across to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. It took a little longer than flying but cost a lot less and we didn't have to rent a car.
We spent the whole week with my parents doing things around town. They are super easy to hang out with and are always up for an adventure. We did water/swimming every day plus the boys went shooting with Grandpa, we did some shopping downtown, kids all made treasures in Grandpa's wood shop, Grandpa taught Taye to drive a stick shift, we picked lots of food from the garden and generally had a really great time doing things that are totally out of our normal "city" routine.
My parents live in their "retirement house" - a three bedroom one-level situated on a lovely pond. The house is full of antiques, items they have collected over the years and lots of furniture that my dad built. He is prolific in the woodshop. There is a cabin out back with bunk beds for grandkids. The yard is filled with flowers, bushes and vegetable gardens. There is no grass to mow.
Maybe you figured something was up and maybe not. Tyrone and I have been separated for four years (2 years during covid just living in our house with all the kids, and two years Tyrone living in a condo we purchased nearby) now and just finalized the divorce this spring. Compared to what I usually hear it was a pretty easy process and I think we are doing a fantastic job taking care of our kids together! I'm super proud of us! I feel so light and free and happy and confident. And I've been on a few dates... all which were super fun and enjoyable and relaxing. So happy with my life at this stage. And a few cute date outfits for you: Fancy French restaurant in Durham. First time having a bottle of wine uncorked and poured at the table. We are both big supporters of public education. Nearby Mexican restaurant with lots of conversation about our Canadian roots. Playing cards at a brewery in Cary. Started off so fun and silly. ...
