Over the summer Tyrone had one of those cases you hope to never see. He had a patient who delivered a baby via c-section and then started to bleed out from an amniotic fluid embolism. They had already sewn her back up when they started to realize something was really wrong and then the surgeon had to open her back up and do a total hysterectomy. It was one of those cases where you can't possibly take notes, or keep supplies organized. Just getting as much blood into the woman as he could and any drugs that could possibly help. Eventually an ambulance from one of the big trauma center hospitals came to pick her up. Tyrone assumed she would die, but a tortuous 24 hours later he got a note from a co-worker that said the mom had survived. And then 2 months later this short little text - a picture of the mom on a hospital bed smiling and this simple note, "Thank you for saving my life."
Maybe you figured something was up and maybe not. Tyrone and I have been separated for four years (2 years during covid just living in our house with all the kids, and two years Tyrone living in a condo we purchased nearby) now and just finalized the divorce this spring. Compared to what I usually hear it was a pretty easy process and I think we are doing a fantastic job taking care of our kids together! I'm super proud of us! I feel so light and free and happy and confident. And I've been on a few dates... all which were super fun and enjoyable and relaxing. So happy with my life at this stage. And a few cute date outfits for you: Fancy French restaurant in Durham. First time having a bottle of wine uncorked and poured at the table. We are both big supporters of public education. Nearby Mexican restaurant with lots of conversation about our Canadian roots. Playing cards at a brewery in Cary. Started off so fun and silly. ...

ReplyDeleteWow! You certainly need nerves of steel for that work. I am so grateful someone wants to do it. mom r.
What a story! Glad it has a happy ending. It's so nice to be thanked, isn't it?
