Divorced

Maybe you figured something was up and maybe not.  Tyrone and I have been separated for four years (2 years during covid just living in our house with all the kids, and two years Tyrone living in a condo we purchased nearby) now and just finalized the divorce this spring.  Compared to what I usually hear it was a pretty easy process and I think we are doing a fantastic job taking care of our kids together!  I'm super proud of us!  I feel so light and free and happy and confident.  And I've been on a few dates... all which were super fun and enjoyable and relaxing.  So happy with my life at this stage.  And a few cute date outfits for you: Fancy French restaurant in Durham.  First time having a bottle of wine uncorked and poured at the table. We are both big supporters of public education.  Nearby Mexican restaurant with lots of conversation about our Canadian roots. Playing cards at a brewery in Cary.  Started off so fun and silly. ...

Fun Birthday Party

One of Blythe's favorite friends had a birthday party where they practiced making clay pots on a wheel.  Blythe loved it!

Jess Duke Garden Photos

I got a few pictures too when we were at Duke Gardens.  Love these!  (Thanks to Riley's boyfriend Ry for taking them)

Graduation Weekend

Courtney's oldest son graduated with his Masters Degree in Nursing from Duke University this weekend.  They all came down and we had such a fun weekend.  Saturday eve I cooked Cafe Rio burritos and then we played The Voting Game and laughed until we were crying.    Sunday the kids cooked breakfast for Courtney and me. (Plus Jaxon bought me flowers, Taye texted and called and Derick called too, to wish me Happy Mother's day)  then we did a quick hike and then got ready for a late graduation brunch with Riley and his boyfriends.  The restaurant ( Nikos ) was stunningly beautiful and food was amazing.  Sitting around the table with people I have grown up with and love so much was just a magical feeling.  How did those early days with husbands in grad school and no money and chasing little kids all day turn into grownup children cooking for us and graduating from Duke? After the Browns headed home and Ricks headed to actual graduation.   M...

Prom

Scotia went to prom with friends.  She purchased her dress online, paid for by Tyrone and got everything ready to go.  I helped flat iron the back of her hair and lent her my car for driving downtown.   She looked incredible!  What a girl!

First Friday

Blythe and I met Carleen and Aysia downtown for First Friday. We shopped at some booths, watched a bit of a movie on the lawn and then checked out a new African American art gallery. Such a fun night.  Every Sunday Blythe and I take Rosie on a long walk and end up at Dunkin Donuts for a pup cup (whipped cream). Rosie is obsessed.

Farm Camp

During spring break/track out Blythe went to a horse riding camp with a few friends.  She was obsessed.  Just hanging out at the farm all day - chores, lots of animals, horse riding, playing in the creek.  It was her dream life for a full week and she came home exhausted and happy each day.  (A camp with nine kids?!?)
