Tutoring

Taye has SAT/ACT tutoring once a week. He really likes it - one on one teaching is so helpful. I work on photo books for the kids while I wait.

Old neighborhood

Scotia and Blythe went back to play for the day in our old neighborhood. They had fun seeing old friends again. But our old house looks so sad - it needs some Brown love.

Spring break for Scotia

The kids have different schedules so Scotia had spring break by herself. We had play dates with friends. Went out for lunch twice and started another session of musical theatre. The biggest thing was finishing her bedroom. The walls finally got painted, (the wallpaper mural from Anthropologie has been up for a few months) and we bought new bedding and pillows. Plus switched out the bulletin board for a bigger one. We still need a chair in the corner but its a stunning room! I’m a little jealous.

AAU Basketball

We had a terrible weekend in January deciding which AAU basketball team Jaxon would play for this spring. Team One Tyrone had already developed a relationship with one of the other dads, gone to all the try outs, made the team and paid a lot of money. They were super excited to have Jaxon on the team.  Team Two was coached by a dad of one of Jaxon's middle school teammates and he put the full court press on us to change teams after we were already committed. As we went back and forth one team accused the other of being money hungry.  The other of being racist. Jaxon went to two trainings sessions with Team Two and loved them! Tyrone was on call and out of town the weekend we had to make the decision and disappoint one coach/team and texts were flying back and forth. Tyrone wanted the team he'd developed relationships with and committed to.  I wanted the team that promised to take Jaxon to and from every practice. We ended up letting Jaxon decide (!) and he chose Team Two ...

Medical mission trip

For the third year in a row Tyrone went to the Dominican Republic for a week to serve in the hospital there. They provide free surgery for people who otherwise couldn’t afford care. It’s a busy work week but there is also time to relax by the pool, eat good food and visit with all the other wonderful people on the trip. Our friends Sara and Cheryl went on the trip too. (Taye missed out because of swim... of course) 2016 Trip 2017 Trip
